Jewelry Care & Cleaning

Jewelry Care

Rokosz Jewelry is made with special care and attention to detail and is meant to be worn and loved for a lifetime. In order to do that though, your pieces must be taken care of. Here are some recommendations to avoid damage and keep your pieces looking beautiful.

Although it is commonplace for people to wear their engagement ring all day everyday, no jewelry should be worn all day everyday. Give your ring a day off every once in a while.

It is also recommended that jewelry should be removed when you are:

  • doing any physical work (such as moving furniture or lifting heavy objects)
  • at the gym
  • when you are swimming or in pools and hot tubs, oceans & lakes
  • if you are at the beach or playing in a sandbox or gardening
  • when you are sleeping

If there is ever a time that you think to yourself "should I take my jewelry off to do this?" The answer is yes! Just please plan a place to always put your jewelry when you take it off so it doesn't get lost.

Please remember to remove or protect your jewelry when applying perfume, lotions and sunscreens and when you are washing your hands or using any chemicals.

When you are not wearing your jewelry, store it in your Rokosz box or in a bag to protect it.

Always store your pieces separately from each other to avoid damage and scratching.

Cleaning

Rokosz jewelry offers a complimentary cleaning and inspection once a year on all their pieces. To book your annual cleaning contact andrea@rokoszjewelry.com to set up an appointment. Pieces must be brought into the studio in person for your cleaning appointment.

If you find the stone is looking cloudy and not sparkling like you're used to then your ring can be cleaned at home using common household items. Just make sure to cover the drain if you are doing this over the sink.

You will need:

  • Hot tap water
  • Liquid dish soap
  • A soft toothbrush
  • A bowl
  • A soft cloth

Mix hot water from the tap (not boiling water) and a squeeze of dish soap in a bowl and place your piece in the mixture to soak for about 10 minutes. Use a soft toothbrush to scrub under the stones and around the settings, this will loosen up any grime that is stuck under the setting. You may need to rinse and repeat this process a couple of times to get it clean. Once you are satisfied with your cleaning then rinse the piece off and pat it dry ensuring all the water spots are dried off.

I do not recommend at home ultrasonic cleaning for pieces with stones - leave this one to the pros.
